Two Osprey

Just when I was thinking, it is a shame I have only seen one Osprey. This morning at 8 am the pair were checking out the sandbar! It is sunny and warm again today.

Hunting Osprey

I took a walk on the island this evening around 7 pm, to check out the trash and how much the island has changed since I haven't been on for about a year! It was a very nice day, sunny, not too hot, but seems it will be getting too hot soon. As I was walking back I spied this guy again, hunting the waterfowl that hang out at the sandbar.

Mr. Mouse

I thought it was a little odd that the birds had chewed a hole in the corner of my porch. Now I see the real culprit! I thought is was a mole at first for he was very dark, but you can see the snout and tail tell us it is a mouse.

Mystery Yellow Bird

My guess is either a female Yellow-rumped Warbler, or a Yellow-bellied flycatcher. I am not sure these two photos are of the same bird. There were some that must have been some female Yellow-rumped Warblers, hanging around with the males, but then there was a larger yellow bird. I have spotted this bird in the same place twice, so when Josh wakes up I may go out again today and focus on getting a photo of this one.

Yellow-Rumped Warbler

I took a short walk with Josh today to find about half a dozen of these birds eating some of the new buds on the trees.

Red-winged Blackbird

Not much red showing on this guy, but from what I understand he is a Red-winged Blackbird. He came to my feeder this morning around 9 am. It is sunny and expected to get up to 70 degrees today.

Osprey

After talking a quick walk in the woods, and then coming home I glanced out once more to see this guy watching me. Makes me wonder sometimes, am I bird watching or are they people watching. I wandered back down as close as I could. He was perched over on the island, so obviously I couldn't walk aross the water. He was also at the tippy top of the tree. When I ran out of space on my camera, I headed back in and he knew that the photo session was over so he took off circling around heading up stream. These photos were taken around 10:25 am. It is currently sunny, but the rain will be coming!

Double-Crested Cormorant

I mentioned a black bird with a long neck, with a yellow/orange beak yesterday. I saw him again this morning, diving, diving, diving. So I went out to try to sneak up on him and grab a photo, but apparently he had decided to go, and I spotted him high in the sky. I did get a decent photo of him, as you can see. My best guess is that he is a Double-Crested Cormorant. The photo was taken around 8:05 am. It is sunny out. 37 degrees.

Eastern Phoebe, I believe...

I have seen a few birds like this around, down by the creek, but also by my old sheds. I believe they are Eastern Phoebes. I think the light colored beak here is just the sunlight.

Tree Swallows, and other swallows

Many many swallows are out and about on the creek. 30-50 would be my guess. Most of them have blue backs, and white bellies and chins, thus I believe them to be tree swallows, but I did spy one that was brown, but don't have many descriptive photos of it I don't know what kind that one is. Remember you can click on my photos to enlarge them.

Eastern Blue Bird & Yellow ???

I took a walk this evening around 5:30 and spied this Eastern Blue Bird, and a very yellow bird. Possibly a Yellow bellied flycatcher?? I plan to go out tomorrow to the same spot and see if I can get more photos.
(I also forgot to note that I saw the winter wren, and that there have been many swallows swooping up and down the creek in the past week or two. They are hard to photograph clearly. I also saw what appeared to be a completely black or dark brown water fowl, with a orange/yellow bill. It was around the size of a merganser. Long neck. I also saw the bald eagle two days ago. All the water fowl saw him/her too. I haven't seen any herons for months.)
