Mud Mystry Plant - Flowers etc.

Here are some more images of this plant. I have no clue or direction to go on this one right now. It is in a dark rich wet soil. Update: I think this is a Veronica catenata Pennell. Status on this plant, commonly known as Veronica's Speedwell is tenatively undertermined.

Alisma triviale Or Northern Water Plantain Update

One plaintain just started to bloom! Unfortunately our four footed deer friends have found the plants too, and have started to dine. I counted some 20+ plants. Some are grouped together, looking like one, but I poked around and counted them seperately.

Baby white flowering Vine - Unidentified

So many mystry plants, but these caught my eye because of their tiny white baby flowers. This appears to be on a vine, and in a muddy area.

Caged butterfly - Unidentified

As I was bringing in some groceries this evening, I found this guy fluttering in my screened in porch. Yes, I think it is time to full screen it in, and leave the door shut. I did sucessfully get him/her in a big brown paperbag and let loose!

Mud Mystry plant

Here is another plant living in the mud that I have not yet identified.

Unidentified plant...

I am still trying to identify some of the plants I found. This one was right along the edge of the creek.

Orange Brown Butterfly

I guess it is different when a butterfly says, "Oh Shit!" The dogs left a golden nugget on the front steps and this fellow found it. I have no idea what kind of butterfly this is. Anyone out there know?

Southern Water Plantain

Southern Water Plantain, not the Alisma triviale Or Northern Water Plantain which is considered an endangered plant in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I just found this one Montgomery County, here near the island. It is also very near to where a major sewer line is going to be replaced.

Alisma triviale can be distinguished by its smaller (~3 mm) flowers, if
present, and the somewhat rounded or heart-shaped base to the leaves. It is similar to a Alisma subcordatum but can be distinguished by larger (~7mm) flowers, if present, and by tapered leaf bases. Thank you to this site for that information: http://research.plattsburgh.edu/wetlandmonitoring/Plant ID manual/Findit.html
